A determined hat factory worker navigates societal pressures and a fake marriage, discovering love and dreams amidst adversity.
In the 1970s, Ni Fei, a motivated female hat factory worker, wanted to go to college to change her fate with knowledge. Ni Fei's middle school classmate Muyang Fang became a hero for saving people and was injured. Ni Fei took the initiative to take care of him and wanted to be recommended to college by doing good deeds, but her hope was repeatedly dashed. The pressure of reality came one after another. In order to help her brother solve the problem of the wedding house, Ni Fei proposed to Muyang Fang to fake marriage and separate the room. After several twists and turns, the two finally had their own house and became a young couple sleeping on the upper and lower bunks. They faced difficulties together and encouraged each other to pursue their dreams. Although they stumbled, they also fostered a romantic relationship in their ordinary and warm life. In the end, Ni Fei finally went to college as she wished, and Muyang Fang also realized his dream of being a painter. They continued on the road to a happy life and a bright future.
