Made in 100% screen-life, The Messenger is a genre-bending series about Mari, a woman who believes she receives spirits while she sleeps. To her relief, the spirits have been quiet of late, but during quarantine they return with a vengeance. Isolated and troubled, Mari agrees to talk to a therapist. But here's the twist: Mari doesn't believe that she can be helped, but agrees to let the therapist treat the spirits. Of course, the therapist treats the spirits like the psychotic episodes she believes them to be. But little by little she's forced to come to the chilling conclusion that they might just be real. Over 12, 15-20 minutes episodes The Messenger delves into Mari's struggles to be "normal" while she denies her "gifts", and her therapist's efforts to treat her without going insane, herself. You see, a spirit's a semi-living organism that needs a host to survive, and real or not, Mari's pandemic has no vaccine in sight... and as her therapist will learn, it might just be contagious.
