Michael and Lisa and their two children, Thomas and Lucy have bought Bankwood Barn in Nottinghamshire. Built in the 1600's, they want to convert this derelict building into a contemporary home with eco features.
David and Barbara are determined not to have a boring retirement! They have bought the Belle Tout Lighthouse near Eastbourne which they plan to convert into a luxury B&B. They paid £500K for the unusual building and plan to spend hundreds of thousands of pound bringing it back to its former glory.
Keith and Antoinette Fairhurst and their four young children have moved from Thame in Oxfordshire to Alet-les Bains in Languedoc in France to convert a 19th century chateau style maison into a family home and B&B. However, Keith's long working hours running and arranging the sale of his IT company has left them with little time together as a family. While Keith divides his time between England and France, Antoinette faces the huge task of project managing a team of French builders, as well as managing a family of four. When the couple's financial situation worsens, their dream of a better life begins to recede.

Dawn's mother is from Barbados and they have inherited a plot of land on this paradise island where they plan to build an open plan home with a two bedroom apartment and its own pool.
Presented by architectural designer Charlie Luxton, Build A New Life follows people leaving the rat-race of the city in pursuit of new lifestyles and new homes in the countryside. The dream houses they are creating are inspiring, architecturally challenging and are all undertaken with a modest budget.
