Matt and Emma Cooper and their two children are leaving their Surrey bungalow and moving north to Lincolnshire to renovate an 18th century granary barn which comes with 5 acres of land, but can inexperienced Matt deal with such a complicated project and will their finances stretch to completing their dream home.
Terry Flynn and Marilyn Fleming want to escape their hectic Tyneside lifestyle and have bought a dilapidated old 18th century farmhouse in remote Northumberland which they intend to turn into their dream home in the countryside, all while keeping their day jobs. How will they cope with getting supplies to an area that has very little access and no roads to speak of, along with some fierce stormy winter weather and heavy snow.
Carol and Shaun Baker have decided to relocate with daughter Beth from a modern house in Buckinghamshire and well paid jobs 350 miles away over the Scottish border to a huge 120 year old run down farmhouse and 6 acres of land in Dumfriesshire . They hope to transform the dilapidated house within 5 months, but will Scottish planning laws prevent them from completing their project in time for their Christmas deadline.
IT consultants Simon and Carol Morley from Cambridgeshire have decided use their redundancy money to move to Gweek in Cornwall to renovate an abandoned barge and turn it into a dream home on the water, as well as start a new dive charter business. With their budget running out they will need income from their new business during the summer season to help complete their project, but the lack of money and a stalled project is putting a strain on their relationship.
George Clarke meets Jeremy, a man who certainly doesn't do things by halves. He's just got a new job, a new partner and a run-down cottage in the Cotswolds that he plans to renovate into the house of his dreams.
