New series. Makeup artist Lisa Eldridge explores what the beauty looks of three iconic moments in British history reveal about that era, beginning with the high Georgians. Lisa goes to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire in search of one of the beauty icons of the day, Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, and discovers how in this period of extreme wealth in Britain, the rich entered an arms race of beauty. Later, she recreates an authentic Georgian look on a 21st century model.
In Victorian Britain, makeup was frowned upon, and women were supposed to be naturally beautiful, reflecting their inner purity. Throughout the program, Lisa delves into this obsession with natural beauty and learns about some of the products created to help achieve this, before creating her own 'no makeup' look inspired by Victorian beauty.
Makeup artist Lisa Eldridge explores her favorite era for makeup, beauty and glamour, Britain in the 1920s. Lisa visits the British Film Institute archives to find out what impact the arrival of Hollywood cinema had on the development of some of our favorite makeup products, before working with pharmacist Szu Shen Wong to recreate authentic period recipes for foundation, eye makeup and lipstick.
