A determined lawyer battles prejudice and bureaucracy, using rugby to transform inmates' lives and confront his own demons.
Episodes
Based on the true story of "Coco" Oderigo. After seeing with his own eyes the violent reality of prisons in Argentina, an upper-class lawyer and former rugby player decides to train a group of prisoners and ends up founding the Spartans, the country's first rugby team in a prison. But not everything is so simple. On his path to turn a group of convicts and outcasts into a sports team with possibilities of reintegration into society, Coco must face the prejudice of his own people, the obstacles of the prison system, such as supervisor Vargas, and his players' personal issues.
The arrival of Tomi, a young and charismatic drug dealer with deep connections both inside and outside the prison walls, threatens to unravel the slow but meaningful progress Coco has made with his rugby program. Tomi's magnetic personality quickly draws the attention of many inmates, offering them an alluring alternative to the hard work and discipline that rugby demands.
Tomi, ever the master manipulator, decides to join the rugby training sessions-not out of any real interest in the sport, but with hidden motives. His presence on the field is disruptive from the start. Under the guise of camaraderie, he sows discord among the players, subtly undermining Coco's authority and turning the sessions into a breeding ground for tension.
News from the outside world hits Tomi hard-a close friend has been killed in a drug-related conflict, leaving his position in the network vulnerable. The shocking news forces Tomi into a dilemma: double down on his control inside the prison or consider a different path.
Coco achieves the impossible-securing approval for the Spartans' first official match outside of jail, a milestone that fills the team with hope and excitement. However, their hard-earned victory is soon threatened. Vargas, determined to see Coco fail, begins setting up bureaucratic roadblocks, questioning permits and tightening security protocols.
A criminal lawyer sees the harsh reality of prisons and takes action. Against all advice, he teaches rugby to inmates at Unit 48, facing prejudice and bureaucracy. Over time, the sport transforms them and helps them leave crime behind.
