The small province of Puglia is more lively than it would be: Alice falls in love with Karim, the plastic surgeon, who hides his secrets well. Gianni, her ex-husband, is about to marry beautiful Elisa, who is only interested in money and an ex-lover to be avenged. Sofia endures the insensitive husband who forces her to make a timetable with the mayor's wife to help her business. Finally, Dora must fight with her husband Leo for a professional promotion that will go to one of the two .
Alice, shocked to know that Karim is a transsexual, runs away, gets drunk and passes, without knowing it, one night with her daughter's boyfriend. Sofia, meanwhile, submits her husband to a marathon of sex: she will only make a calendar if they try to have a son. Armida, the Mayor's wife, organizes a party at Elisa's home to cash out some money. Dora, however, finds that promotion will go to her husband only because she is a man. Elisa, meanwhile, finds that Elvio has a gun with him to defend himself against the bad guys he must return a big loan .
Elisa discovers that Elvio wants to flee abroad and proposes to do it together with the money subtracted from the charity party organized by Armida. Sofia has an adventure with the photographer and goes to Rome with him, but ends up in a club for exchanges of couples. Alice manages to take off the relationship with Karim despite the burning revelation. Dora wants to separate from Leo: he knows that he will accept the promotion, also obtained thanks to a colleague in love. Elvius, who betray Elisa with Alice's daughter, is attacked by an armed gunman.
Elvio is dead. On the cell phone of dead lover Elisa finds a threatening message left by her husband Gianni. Now he has the weapons to blackmail him: if he does not want the cell phone to end in the hands of the police, he must give him much money and a private flight to flee abroad. The man, however, complains and manages to block his escape. Just thanks to a film on Elvio's cell phone find that the killer is a woman and dresses a particular type of very expensive shoes. Alice faces the woman but the mayor's desperate wife strikes her and brings her, tied in a country house. Only police intervention saves Alice from a terrible conclusion and puts an end to the story.
On a rainy day, Alice is tied and gagged into a country house, and through a series of flashbacks she traces the events that dragged her into this situation. Alice, Dora and Sofia are three very different women, friends since school, and all three are now close to the fateful forties of forty years. Everyone tries to find their own way, while their lives are inexorably marked by male figures who go and go. Sofia, however, after escaping from her father's overpriced parental authority, is confronted with an even more cumbersome and overbearing husband who forces her to make an oval calendar to foster her business. The soft comedy, however, is yellow when the village of Puglia where the story unfolds is shocked by a murder.
