Russell believes he should be a contented man. He has a beautiful wife Susannah, who is supportive of his career as a jingle writer. Unfortunately he is totally obsessed with Elly, a younger girlfriend who has added a spark to his life.
Russell tries to win back favour with Elly after turning up at her home drunk at 3 a.m. While he is not happy that Susannah wants to bring her ill mother to stay for a while. Luis finds romance when he meets Pier's at a book shop.
Russell's guilt has left him unable to perform in bed. Telling Susannah he needs peace and quiet, to write some music, he takes off, to the country, with Elly but she demands commitment in return. Luis arranges a date with Piers.
Russell returns from his holiday and is determined to tell Susannah he wants to leave her. When she discovers his £16,000 royalty cheque she has big plans for the future. Camilla makes a pass at Elly and she turns to Luis for help.
Russell attempts to focus on Susannah after Elly has walked away from their romance. Luis starts to put together a brand new drag show but is in denial about his health issues. Camilla sends Susannah a picture of Russell and Elly.
Russell, a jingle composer, falls for Elly and embarks on an affair, despite being married to Susanna, who supports them financially. Complications arise as he navigates this unexpected situation.
