Willow has dinner with her family and friends, where she performs a poem, titled "I Am." On the surface, she's the perfect example of a happy high-school student. Underneath, however, Willow reveals internal struggles.
Willow further reveals internal struggles. She grapples with popularity at school, validation from outside sources, and social media status. She finally meets the most popular girl at school, Andrea, and the rest of the popular girls.
Willow ditches her best friends to hang out with Andrea and the popular girls after school. She crosses a familiar face at a local coffee shop. The popular girls reveal shallow character.
Willow receives a gift from Andrea - a stolen bracelet. She ignores her best friends in front of everyone at school. And the more she hangs out with Andrea and the popular girls, the more she compromises her individual values and morals.
Willow gains everything she believed she wanted: popularity, recognition, and social media status. But she learns that it comes at a price, and that price might not be all that it's cracked up to be.
"I Am" is a six-part series centered on Willow, a teenager, dealing with both the internal and external struggles of a regular teenage life. Central themes such as family, friends and social status are intertwined throughout the series as it looks at universal problems such as comparison, jealousy, and envy - and how these traits rob individuals of their unique gifts and blessings in life.
