Anchorage, Alaska, August 2007: A nurse practitioner, 52-year-old Mindy Lorin Schloss, goes missing from her home in Anchorage, Alaska. Mindy's friend alerts the local police who begin their search for Mindy. Several suspects are ruled out during the detectives' search for Mindy's abductor. In the end, it was Mindy's next door neighbor, former convict Joshua Wade, who abducted, assaulted and killed Mindy. His "party house" next door was a bothersome nuisance to his neighbors. After Mindy's disappearance, Josh was spotted on bank surveillance cameras draining money from Mindy's bank account at ATM machines. On the cameras, his tattoos were seen on his hands. The tattoos helped to pin Josh to the crimes. Trained police scent-detecting dogs were also employed in Josh's apprehension. In the end, Josh Wade accepted a plea deal to avoid a death penalty sentence. He confessed to Mindy's murder, and also, as part of the plea bargain, confessed to the 2003 murder of Della Brown. Josh had raped and killed Della Brown, but due to a lack of hard evidence, he was acquitted of those crimes. After his plea deal, Josh Wade was sentenced to 99 years in prison for his homicides.
Anchorage, Alaska, March 22, 2000: When the body of a single mother, native Alaskan Genevieve Tepton aka Ginny Tetpon turns up in a snowbank outside Anchorage, Alaska, the evidence points to the victim's fugitive fiance. The shocking murder of a second native Alaskan sparks the fears of the investigators that maybe a serial killer is on the loose. Ginny's case went cold for 10 years. Many suspects are cleared of wrongdoing before detectives finally nab the killers, Derrick Torian and Louis de Jesus.
Elizabeth, New Jersey, November 18, 2010: Diane Zaleski is found dead in her home by her parents. She was stabbed an astounding 44 times by the ruthless killer. Investigators have the culprit's DNA, but finding the perpetrator will require an assist from the FBI, a media blitz and a random tip with homicide details that only the murderer would know. In the end, DNA evidence at the crime scene matches Arnell Yearwood, a neighbor of Diane's. He was convicted on April 11, 2014. In a plea bargain deal, now age 36, Yearwood accepted a sentence of 30 years with no parole.
Milford, Connecticut, May 19, 2006: Alexandra Ducsay, aka Zandra Ducsay, is an aspiring 26-year-old dancer and entertainer with a big heart and a blossoming career. She is found dead by her mother inside the family's Milford, CT home on May 19, 2006. Zandra's enraged attacker stabs her with a knife and then uses her own dance trophy to bludgeon her face and kill her. Detectives rule out many potential suspects over five years and eventually the case goes cold. Later, a tip leads to the arrest of Zandra's ex-boyfriend, Matthew Pugh. In the end, in 2015 Matthew Pugh was convicted and sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Terri Brooks (September 13, 1958 - February 4, 1984) was the night manager of a Roy Rogers fast-food restaurant in Bucks County, Pennsylvania when she was murdered in 1984 by her boyfriend Alfred Scott Keefe, who confessed to her murder in 1999. His DNA matched crime scene evidence. On June 6, 2000, Keefe was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Determined investigators must piece together a crime scene to reconstruct the timeline, unlock the motive and ultimately get closer to the killer.
