Listen to the hard-hitting rhythms from this six-piece band with deep roots in the music of Nicaragua, Mozambique and Colombia. Be inspired by Afro-Caribbean percussion, tropical party sounds and Latin dance beats. Performing together since 2009, Mazacote features the captivating voice of Nicaraguan singer/songwriter David Lopez and a groove-heavy rhythm section with Frankie Hidalgo on Bass, Chris Couto on Timbales, Robin Layne on Congas, Japanese pianist Niho Takase and jazz trumpeter Malcolm Aiken.
Next up on our Summer Concert Series at Home is Paul Filek, a singer-songwriter from Kamloops. Paul's confident, accomplished songwriting has charted commercial success on Canadian radio. His smooth and effortless, funky vocals and heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics are infectiously hard to deny. His feel good songs fit perfectly on top forty radio. ?Paul was a Top 40 Canadian Idol finalist in 2007, has a People's Choice Award and cracked the Top 100 charts in 2011.
Recently hailed by CBC as one of the top 10 soulful female artists in the 2020 CBC Searchlight competition, Bukola Balogun is an 18-year-old musician who blends the sounds of contemporary R&B and Jazz music to create her own soulful sound. The grand prize winner of the Nimbus Battle of the Bands competition, Bukola has since performed at the J?uno pre-show Let's Hear it. Live and has been interviewed by CBC and the Metro Vancouver Newspaper. Bukola has recently been working with Grammy award-winning producer, Chin Injeti, and Juno award-winning producer Ben Kaplan on her debut EP which is set for release this fall. Etienne Siew crafts his music from the beauty of the West Coast and the forests of B.C, where he often spends his time fishing, hiking or canoeing. His true-life experiences and imaginative tales are woven into songs that will guide you through the themes of love, loss and triumph over adversity, that he explores in his Debut EP, " Better Man." Whether he is performing in a soft seated theatre, a festival stage or by a campfire, his blend of warm tones, dynamic melodies, and powerful vocals will speak to your heart and make you feel as though you are walking right beside him in his stories.
Aaron Pritchett retains his title as one of Canada's most electrifying entertainers, with 14 career top-10 singles, a gold-selling smash hit, a recent string of top-10 songs, and a massive headlining national tour, Pritchett continues to pave his way to indelible legacy. With multiple Canadian Country Music Association Award wins, and Juno nominations to his credit, Pritchett has never forgotten where he came from ?- and neither have folks from his home province. Pritchett recently celebrated 5 more British Columbia Country Music Association Awards wins ?- bringing his career total to 38 awards. A BCCMA record that will likely stand the test of time!?

His latest album, Speak, debuted at #1 on the iTunes Inspirational Charts, and #20 on the iTunes Overall Charts Top 100. Soulfully infused, his first single, 'Born For Greatness' features KJ Apa, star of the hit television show, Riverdale. Warren is the founder of talent development company Studio Cloud 30 and Top Line Vocal Collective, which is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for various charities.?
The City of Coquitlam is bringing our community-favorite concert series to you on Friday evenings with 6 concerts from July 10 to August 14 featuring Mazacote, Paul Filek, Bukola Balogun, Etienne Siew, Aaron Pritchett, Warren Dean Flandez, Sarah Wheeler and the Black Salt Sea. Enjoy an eclectic mix of genres while supporting local artists.
