Mandy announces she's gone celibate, just at the time when Martin finally gets a girlfriend. For Matthew, life is no different - except his two flatmates seem to notice that he's somewhat changed.
Martin is boring everyone by constantly talking about his sex life, while Mandy's vow of celibacy is under threat when she meets her new Italian teacher. Matt, meanwhile, has finally got a therapist - only without knowing.
Matt makes a major breakthrough, taking his first steps outside with his new counsellor. Mandy is overjoyed for him, but Martin is lost in his own obsessions, with his paranoia threatening to destroy his relationship with Clare.
Three relationships reach crisis point: Clare wants to have a serious talk with Martin, Matt finally learns that his counsellor is gay, and Mandy's old flame Stoat turns out to be an armed criminal on the run from the local prison.
Mandy wants to be taken seriously, and considers going back to college. Martin, meanwhile, is having a post-relationship crisis over his ginger hair: until both he and Matt learn that it can be a blessing.
