On the first day the physical demands are high for the new recruits as they are pushed to their limits by mandatory fitness assessments. They are also taught how to correctly strip down a rifle and how to use a gas mask.
The rookies of 19 Platoon continue their Phase 1 training travelling to Catterick, North Yorkshire to spend 3 days and 2 nights out on field exercises that will test their stamina and endurance. There is excitement ahead of Families Day.
The rookies confront the realities of soldiering and the difficult truths associated with it - that they will be asked to put their own lives at risk and potentially have to take the lives of others.
