Ingeborg Gaundal (82) and her son, Steinar (51) live on an isolated farm with no road access, thirty kilometers from their nearest neighbor. In order to make travel easier, Steinar has built a runway behind their house and invested in a small aircraft.
Givær is a small island community an hours boat ride from Bodø. 14 people live her, but during the fishing season only the women are left to tend to the farms. Olaug Olsen (29) is one of these women who now runs her parents croft.
During the winter months Botolv Hov (82) lives on his own on an isolated farm in one of Norway's most famous fjords, Nærøyfjorden. During the summer season his wife joins him and they run a large museum depicting Norwegian traditional farm life
Liv and Trond Burud left their jobs in computers and settled on a small holding on the border between Norway and Sweden. They now make a living from farming fresh water fish and producing hand crafted products made from local wood.
Revelsøy, is a former trading post in the Ofot fjord. The only remaining villager is Alma Jenssen (85). She spends her days tending the old church and the cemetery and if the weather is good she'll take a boat trip in to town to pick up some groceries and her mail.
