Eight strangers marry at first sight, battling doubts and desires as they navigate love, trust, and unexpected connections.
Episodes
Eight singles (out of thousands of applicants), chosen by clinical physiologist John Aiken, neuropsychotherapist Dr. Trisha Stratford and psychologist Sabina Read, come to find themselves looking for love on a TV show. Married at First Sight takes these eight singles, makes them four couples and has them meeting for the first time at the altar. These couples are not actually married for the show, yet do go through a commitment ceremony. This reality series is an experiment based on real life occurrences for these 'couples', as they go through an accelerated relationship cycle.
Married at First Sight is an Australian reality television series based on the Danish program of the same name. The show features four couples, matched by three experts, who agree to marry when they first meet. However, unlike other versions of the show around the world, the couples do not partake in a legally binding marriage due to legal restrictions, but instead meet as strangers at the altar of a commitment ceremony. The couples spend their wedding night in a hotel, then leave for a honeymoon. Upon returning they live together for a month, where after they choose whether they will continue their relationship.
During the second season, four female contestants were matched with their 'perfect' male partner by a panel of experts. In the first episode, two couples (Erin and Bryce, Christie and Mark) meet and wed. In the second episode, another two couples (Clare and Jono, Simone and Xavier) did the same. They all embarked on married life for the rest of the series. In the fifth episode, the couples met for the first time and discussed their experiences.
