Introduction of how my Chug dog, Daisy Roberts, came down with Mast Cell Tumor Cancer. Introducing the option I did for Daisy's MCTC (in a dog with Grade 1 or Grade 2 MCTC). I'm doing this series to pay it forward and to help and inspire anyone who has a dog with MCTC. I offer an alternative option. I didn't do Chemo, Radiation, or remove any of the tumors. Instead I did a different option that I will tell you about in this series. Daisy has now been living over 2 years and 7 months since first being diagnosed with the MCTC.
The backstory of the journey Daisy and I went through to find out what the best option was for dealing with Daisy's Mast Cell Tumor Cancer. My journey consists of lots of reading, research and seeing many Veterinarians over the first six months when Daisy was first diagnosed with the MCTC. I also highly recommend looking at Dr. Demian Dressler's blog and interviews too, and reading his book, if you have time.
I go over the exact diet that I give Daisy and what works best for her. It's a diet that is great for Dogs with MCTC. Also, you can always check out Dr. Demian Dressler's Website the Dog cancer blog and he shows a list of foods which he feels are good for dogs with MCTC. I always cook Daisy's food in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I discuss a little bit of a homeopathic treatment that I do for Daisy, and I always give Daisy spring water as it's the best water to give your dog with MCTC. My mantra is to do it all in moderation. I give Daisy Applegate Oven Roasted Turkey Breast and Paul Newman Adult Dog kibble with a few dog treats in the morning. At night, I give Daisy Foster Farms Boneless Chicken Breasts and a Stater Bros. brand of beef which sometimes is 96% Lean and 4% Fat or sometimes 85% Lean and 15% Fat. And sometimes I'll add a little bit of Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, Butternut Squash, and Ginger to the dinner, but not all of the time. After her dinner, I'll give her just a few little treats, not much though. All in moderation.
I go over walks and leftovers in this episode. You do not want to give your dog any leftovers. Leftovers for dogs with MCTC is very bad and you never want to do that. Also, you want to take your dog on 1 to 4 walks a day, and take your dog on different routes on each walk to keep your dog motivated and excited about life. The walks help a lot with the MCTC. As you're walking your dog throughout the day make sure to pet your dog and tell them that they're doing a great job and that you love them (here and there) as you're walking him or her.
I talk about Spirituality in this episode. Whatever your spiritual practice is, go there every day for your dog's MCTC. It will do wonders for your dog in ways you never dreamed.
Daisy Roberts was diagnosed with Mast Cell Tumor Cancer Stage 3 (grade 2) in 2016, and the option Dallas Ryan Roberts went with to save her life.
