When Pim and Pom go ice skating in Avercamp's "Winter Landscape with Skaters," they bump into little Dirk, who is sad because he can't skate. Pim and Pom each help Dirk in their own way, so that he soon realizes he actually can skate-as long as he believes in himself.
In the painting 'The Goldfinch' Pim and Pom meet a little bird who knows how to drink out of a tiny golden bucket. Pim thinks it's really sad that the goldfinch is held captive by the chain around its leg, and so he frees the bird so it can fly around outside. But when Pom warns the goldfinch about all the dangers outside, the little bird doesn't know what to choose: a safe life indoors or a life of freedom outside.
Pim and Pom want to play on the warship 'The King William'. The lion, the proud figurehead at the prow of the ship, accuses them of being 'lily-livered landlubbers', and tells them to hop it fast. But it's too late, the ship suddenly comes under attack by the enemy. To the lion's surprise, Pom comes up with a plan for turning the tables on the enemy and winning the day. The lion has to eat his words. Pim and Pom are true heroes.
Pim thinks it would be fun to play hide-and-seek in the "Wheatfield with crows" by Vincent van Gogh. But Pom gets into a panic when he can find Pim. He's overcome with joy when they bump heads on the path between the crops. Playing together is good fun, but it has to be fun for both of you.
Milk. Pim and Pom land in the kitchen of Johannes Vermeer's "The Milkmaid". No sooner has the Milkmaid left the kitchen than Pim starts to guzzle milk from the milk-jug. By the time an angry mother mouse comes out of her hole to fetch milk for her mice-children, Pim has finished it all up. Pim feels ashamed for being so greedy. Pom comes up with an idea for putting things right: they will personally go and get some more milk from... a cow.
The two curious cats Pim and Pom take children on a discovery journey through the fascinating world of art. Famous art collections from Dutch museums form the backdrop for the animated series Pim and Pom at the Museum. Each episode the two cats dive into a work of art and discover that nothing is what it seems.
