Our guest, Andre Octavio is on the couch with our Australian hosts, Zac Rose and Gemma Cosgriff. Andre started his musical career at the age of fifteen experimenting with cassettes and analogue recorders. He is now a multi-instrumentalist and has recorded several albums.
Our hosts chat with legendary singer, Billy Pommer Jr. Founder of the Australian rock band, The Johnnys. Billy Pommer Jr is best known as a formation member and the lifelong drummer of the legendary Australian rock act, The Johnnys. The Johnnys were pioneers in genre of cow-punk, blending the rawness of punk with a country and western twist. With some great hooks and melodies, their debut album 'Highlights Of A Dangerous Life' went top 20 nationally. Billy has also released his own solo album under the name Billy Pommer Jr and The Guilty Plea. Along with this, Billy has been invited to play sessions and live gigs with countless Australian and international bands some which include The Gun Club, Tex Perkins' Butcher Shop, Seven Ballerinas and The Cry. Now based in Melbourne, Billy is still an active member of the Australian music scene. Billy is also a keen drum collector and builder and teaches woodwork and music in an inner-city alternative high school.
Claire Gaskin is a writer and published her poetry extensively for over three decades. She has published four full length collections of poetry and a chapbook. A Snail in the Ear of the Buddha is a chapbook published by SOUP Publications in 1998.
Donna has been creating theatre for 27 years, starting out in community theatre musicals. Stage musical credits include Kismet, The Pyjama Game, Chicago and Jesus Christ Superstar. Her stage management credits include, Cinderella, Oklahoma, Mary Poppins, Matilda, The Man from Mukinuppin, Ten Little Soldiers, Secret Bridesmaids Business, Aladdin, The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Threepenny Opera. Her directing credits include Conundrum, Dragon Girl, The Wizard of Oz and Noises Off. There's more to life than Money and Sex. She has written musicals as well, Game of Shows, Valerie - President of the World and Doctor, the Musical. Her show The Adam/Eve Protocol had its debut in the 2018 Melbourne Fringe Festival. As a puppet maker she has made the cow for Eddie Perfect's "The Beast". This puppet won a special award at the Victorian Drama League that year. She also constructed the puppets in "Shakespeare Aliens". Her next puppetry venture is for the upcoming "Shakespeare Ghostbusters.
Gillian Cosgriff is a singer, writer, actor, musician, and comedian who graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Theatre. Her 2023 solo show, Actually, Good, garnered rave reviews at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and won Most Outstanding Show and the Golden Gibbo Award (for Best Independent Show). Theatre credits include: Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, Come Rain Or Come Shine, Godspell, Vivid White, and Loving Repeating. She has toured extensively with her solo shows as a comedian and cabaret performer, most notably at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Leicester Square Theatre in London. She co-wrote the opera Lorelei for Victorian Opera with Casey Bennetto and Julian Langdon in 2018, which premiered at the Malthouse Theatre. In 2020 she directed Michelle Brasier's show Average Bear, which was nominated for Best Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
