A tragic case lands Berlin lawyer Mai Gardner in the Vogtland region, where she has been hired to represent a company whose wind turbine blew off a piece of ice, killing a child. The child's parents Matthias and Linda want justice, Mayor Heike tries to smooth things over, and Mai is faced with a huge challenge. Meanwhile, she decides to stay in Vogtland for the time being, since her abusive husband Bo is all that awaits her in Berlin.
Word of Mai's plans to stay in Vogtland quickly gets around. And Biene is quick to seek her advice: Biene's husband Manu has sex with her whether she wants to or not. What can she do? As far as Mai is concerned, this is clearly rape. But Biene doesn't want to press charges. Her husband is the son of the mayor, Heike. Mai is looking forward to the arrival of her 16-year-old son Kaleb, although Kaleb doesn't know about her separation from Bo yet.
