Murder in Mind examines the psychological themes that drive people to kill. It's a journey of explanation, not excuse.
In each single narrative, investigators, friends and family of the perpetrator unpick what happened in the murderer's life and how a combination of adverse experiences might have escalated into bad decision making, resulting in violent and fatal conclusion. Murder in Mind seeks to understand why most of us are sheltered from the triggers that drive some beyond restraint We speak to family, friends, and survivors of the perpetrator. Those who knew them growing up; parents at a loss to explain what happened, previous romantic partners who were alert to the red flags, all shed light on our central figure. Each new layer of information will be analysed by criminologists and psychologists respond to the interviews to interpret and explain what the behaviour over the years suggests. The thoughts and words of the perpetrator prior to the murder will be represented through video posts, audio or the written word, based on diaries, social media posts representing "a manifesto for murder."
The murder will be analysed by key investigators from law enforcement and defence teams who will walk us through the evidence. Detailed analysis of any post arrest interviews with the perpetrator will offer a deep insight into the perpetrators' mind.
Through the analysis of the interaction with the perpetrator, the viewer is taken on a journey to understand the complex interplay of factors that led to each tragic event. The tone will always remain sympathetic to the victim but with a deeper understanding of factors that influenced the killer's behaviour.
Murder in Mind is a series is about the importance of addressing underlying risk factors many of us experience to help break the cycle of violence.
