Martina is a first year lawyer. In the conference room with all the lawyers to assist on a big case, Martina speaks up with an insight to the evidence against their client. She gets noticed and asked to be third chair on another case.
Martina is assigned the jail mail to see if there is any potential case to represent. She finds one - a woman who admitted to a crime but was determined insane and put in a hospital. Eleven years later, she is better and claims innocence.
Martina partners with Nolan Adams, a third-year lawyer, on a case about surrogate mother who sues for the baby's custody when her sister, the mother of the child, goes in a coma. Martina questions the father's motive in wanting the baby.
