When the fireman Anders and the career woman Lise encounter each other by chance, their fates are sealed. Even though Anders is recently single and Lise has a hard time opening up to love, they develop feelings for each other.
Lise has always been told that she is unable to get pregnant, the miracle happens anyway. Anders is thrilled, and they both look forward to being parents. Lise starts having second thoughts about Anders when he disappoints her thoroughly.
Anders and Lise's wedding goes completely haywire. Anders is deeply disappointed by Lise when she insists on a prenuptial agreement, whereas Lise discovers that Anders has been lying about where he slept on the night of his bachelor party.
Everyday life is starting to show, so in an attempt to rekindle the romance, Anders and Lise go back to the place where they spent their honeymoon. The visit reminds them how far they are from being the newly-in-love couple they once were.
There's shared joy between Anders and Lise when their daughter is born. But Anders' mother, Mona, ends up being a thorn in their side. Lise wants to be a perfect mother but struggles with guilt over wanting to return to her job
