A highschool girl is found dead on the road and the investigation brings up a not so innocent lifestyle.
Two women die and at first they think they committed suicide. But some peculiar situations get Maria Wern and her coworkers to start digging deeper in the case. And the case take an unwanted turn, when the police finds more bodies.
Swedish with English subtitles. The charred body of a suffocated medium lies in the gutted remains of her office after a fire. When two other murders take place in the same manner, Maria Wern is forced to lead an investigation in which the motive and the connection between victims remains unclear. At the same time, her colleague Arvidsson's loyalty is forcibly put to the test.
A ten-year-old boy disappears from a dinner in a little fishing village, while another vanishes from a refugee camp on the island. These are but the first in series of frightening events to take place on the island of Gotland, where a string of brutal murders are committed in quick succession. And what starts out as the search for a missing child, leads Maria Wern and her colleagues ever deeper into a nest of hidden agendas, personal betrayals.
After some serious anonymous death threats, Maria is ordered to leave Gotland. With a group of old friends she goes on a trip to an island to relax, but soon the seven women are in great danger.
Juggling motherhood and detective work, Maria solves heinous crimes on a picturesque Swedish island while sustaining her female perspective.
