With a choice of three husbands the girls can't understand why Elka wants to keep the dead one. Victoria thinks coming out of the closet will help her career but it strains her marriage to Joy.
Joy wants a divorce but Victoria mollifies her with a cruise and a handbag. Elka and Melanie are game for anywhere warm. But it's a gay cruise that puts the Love Boat and the girls to shame.
When the drycleaners lose Melanie's favorite dress, Elka takes them funeral crashing to track it down. Joy and Victoria are forced to face their pasts and Elka is reunited with someone who might be part of her future: Roy (John Mahoney).
The neighborhood women, distressed by the attention the LA ladies are receiving from their husbands, persuade the girls to give them makeovers. Elka hooks up with a younger man and does whatever it take to keep up with him.
Three middle-aged best friends from Los Angeles are flying to Paris when their plane makes an emergency landing in Cleveland. Realizing that all the norms from Los Angeles don't apply anymore, they decide to celebrate a city that values real women and stay where they're still considered hot.
