Duarte meets the man who was accused of kidnapping Luz twenty years go and asks him for information about her. The man gives him a picture of a woman who lives in Mexico and tells him that she can help him finding her, but before giving him more information about the woman, he is killed by someone. At the same time, in Mexico, Luz is on a truck with stowaways heading to the United States. After returning home, Duarte and his family are talking with a police inspector; Duarte shows him the picture that the man she met gave him and they notice that the woman in the picture is very similar to Duarte's deceased wife. In the bedroom, Madalena tries to convince Duarte that Benedita can't be alive (Benedita is Luz's birth name), but he takes advantage of the fact that they have to go to Mexico for a wedding, to look for the woman of the picture. Luz and the stowaways are still on the truck heading to the United States, but the police is doing a traffic-stop, so they run away not to be arrested. Meanwhile, Madalena remembers the day she abandoned Luz in the river. Later, Luz is doing hitchhiking; Vicente drives in a motorcycle heading to Mexico City, where his brother's wedding will take place (the same wedding Duarte and Madalena will attend), but he doesn't stop. Beatriz is preparing herself for the wedding with the help of her mother and Alexa but Ramòn rings Alexa asking her to find information about where Luz is; She reassures him saying that she will inform him as soon as she knows what is going on with her. After a car finally took her, Luz stops in a gas station and crosses Vicente. While washing herself, she almost got raped by a man, but Vicente intervened and saved her. After that, she decides to continue the rest of the way by walking, but Vicente follows her and finally accepts to take her to Mexico City with him. Arrived in Mexico City, he stops the motorcycle and Luz goes away without saying him her name; She arrives at the hotel where Ramòn works as a cook assistant, and he offers her some food. Diego gives to Emiliano a list with the names of those involved in the crime organized in order to kill him. Behind the curtains, someone looks at them but can not see Diego's face. Upset with the list, Emiliano keeps it in a safe, and after that, Alexa (his lover) arrives and tells him she don't wants to keep their relationship and announcing that she will move to San Diego after the wedding. During the wedding in the hotel gardens, Luz sees Ramón arguing with Madalena, but she can't hear their conversation. Ramón is fired from the hotel after being accused of stealing food, and he looks for Luz around the city, desperate not to know where she is. Beatriz goes to the altar accompanied by the ladies of honor. One of them is Alexa; she is the woman of the picture that Duarte has. He recognizes her immediately and assures Madalena that he'll talk to her as soon as possible. In the altar, Caetana asks Emiliano to stop exchanging looks with Alexa, making him understand that she know they are lovers. During the wedding speech, Duarte tries to talk to Alexa, but she runs away. Caetana dances with Joaquim, while telling him that it's time for the attack to happen; At this moment, a man shoots Emiliano and he dies. Just after that, several men appear with guns and shooting everywhere, killing several people and causing chaos. Vicente finds Luz under a table and protects her. Duarte finds Alexa unconscious, and with a gun in her hand. Later, the police arrives and Duarte tells them that she saw Alexa unconscious with a gun in her hand. After waking up, Alexa hears the conversation hidden behind a bush and runs away. She hides at Ramón's house, and tells him what happened, swearing that she didn't killed anyone. She asks him to help her bringing her daughter back to her, which no one is aware of. At the hotel, Beatriz learns that Alexa is the main suspect of killing her father. Later, Vicente tells Luz that he works at the Embassy of Spain so he can help her locating her father. The day ater, Luz wakes up at Vicente's house; She tells him that she's a gypsy and remembers the moments she used to spent with her father before arriving in Mexico. Vicente receives a message and tells Luz that he received the address of her father's house; He gets ready to take her there but she see the news on the television concerning a possible complicity between Ramón and Alexa in Emiliano's murder; She steals his money, his motorcycle, and his phone, then she goes to the address of her father's house. She finds him, and seeing Alexa with him, she asks if he's involved in Emiliano's murder. He guarantees her that both are innocent then Alexa tells them that she can help them crossing the border for the United States through the tunnels. They start the crossing but they are located by the police, due to a tracking device on Vicente's motorcycle; the police stops them in the middle of the tunnel, but suddenly several smoke bombs are thrown to them, leaving Vicente in panic, who is seeing everything through monitors.
The gas bombs were thrown by operatives of the American DEA, and one of them is Diego. Maria do Carmo sells a cutlery to Miro in order to get Money, because the family is running out of money. Seeing the gypsy leaving the house with the cutlery, Vitó warns all the family and they accuse him of stealing the cutlery; Maria do Carmo pretends to have sold him nothing at all because she don't want the family to know that she sells things that belong to the family for centuries, and Miro promises that he will revenge. Diego takes Luz and Ramon outside the tunnel while another operational tells the Rivera family that Luz and Ramón ran away on the motorcycle then that the motorcycle fell into a river. Joaquim tells Caetana that he thinks Emiliano had hired a private detective who gave Emiliano a list with names connected to the Monterrey cartel and that this list could be in Alexa's hands. Alexa gives fake passports to Luz and Ramón in order to go back to Portugal; When they leave, Diego tells Alexa that he's not reassured about their return to Portugal because they will be close to the person who tried to get rid of Luz. Diego remembers the day she escaped from jail, and we learn that he is the private detective known as "V" who gave Emiliano the list with the names. He also remembers the day he met Alexa, who is the Duarte's deceased wife's sister, and saying that the only way to protect Luz is to find Emiliano's real murderers. After Emiliano's burial, Caetana tells Joaquim that Alexa and Emiliano had a daughter and Joaquim tells her to approach Alexa by using her daughter. Duarte perceives Alexa who was hidden watching the burial, and pursues her; She assures him that she is innocent of Emiliano's murder because she was her lover. Luz and Ramón arrive in Portugal. Duarte and Alexa settle in a house on the beach and Alexa tells him that she has a daughter, proposing him a deal: if he helps her finding her daughter, she'll help him finding his daughter. Joaquim and Beatriz are back to Portugal as well as Vicente. Luz and Ramón settle in a camp in which live other gypsies as well as Ramón's family. Ramón talks with Soraia, her ex-wife with which she had adopted Luz, but she ignores Luz because she never liked her. Miro asks Ramón who is Luz, because he don't know that Ramón and Soraia adopted her but he don't tells him. He offers Ramón the keys of a house in the city for him and Luz to live there. Madalena appears asking for help because of the flat tire of her car and sees that Ramón is alive.
Ramón lies to Madalena saying that Luz died in Mexico while they were escaping on the motorcycle. Miro asks Luz what they used to do in Mexico and why they came back to Portugal; She says that they were going to the United States but they didn't succeed, and that they came back to Portugal because the family is there. Madalena claims that Ramón turned into a murderer but he says that he wasn't involved in Emiliano's murder; She says that she could denounce him to the police but he threatens her saying that if she denounces him, he will expose her by revealing everything he knows about her. Luz arrives at this moment and hears their conversation while remaining hidden. Seeing Madalena going away, Luz asks Ramón who was that woman but he says it was a client of her grandfather, then he changes the subject of their conversation saying that her grandfather got a house for them. Madalena tells Joaquim that Ramón is alive and claims that he can lead them to Alexa stating that she knows he is one of those who ordered Emiliano's death. Luz is upset with the fact that Soraia ignores her. Duarte buys an undetectable phone so Alexa can call her daughter; She calls her and says that Duarte is gonna pick her up and bring her back to her. Joaquim and Tiburón organize a plan to divert the attention of the Coast Guard in order to get a drug load coming from Mexico by boat; They warn the police about the fact that Ramón is alive and that he's a drug dealer. At the camp, the gypsies are having a party; Soraia remembers the day she had an induced abortion discovering that she can not have children, then when Ramón and her adopted Luz. Hurted after Soraia told her she's not his daughter, Luz runs away; Vicente crosses her and is surprised because he thought she was dead. The camp is warned about the coming of the police, and Ramón tells Luz to run away. The police arrives in the camp and arrests Ramón after finding the drugs in his room. Duarte goes to pick up Alexa's daughter but several men sent by Caetana shoot him and kidnap Alexa's daughter, then they lock her up.
