Suzy is reminded by her boss, Linleigh, that her job trial at the NZ Immigration Service will be ending soon and only two vacancies will be filled. Nervous, Suzy makes another attempt to bond with her co-workers. Unable to sleep, a lonely Suzy visits an online dating website.
At a staff meeting, Suzy is singled out for what not to do when assessing newcomers into New Zealand. Suzy shrugs it off as she is excited for her date with her online boyfriend. The date, however, does not go as smoothly as she hoped for.
Eager to impress her co-workers, Suzy goes on a super healthy "diet". Suzy's dad is not impressed with her diet and questions whether she truly likes working for the Immigration Service.
Still sleepless, a stressed out Suzy decides to put on a brave face and re-enter the online dating world. Her date is a mess and she feels like her life is as well. Suzy's dad, however, notices and helps her to relax.
Suzy thoroughly interviews Leonardo, a newcomer to New Zealand, as a last attempt to impress Linleigh, who watches the interview from a monitor. It turns out Suzy has a lot in common with Leonardo and makes a decision that could affect her destiny tremendously at the Immigration Service.
A former New Zealand immigration officer is imprisoned in Brazil after an issue with her visitor's visa, facing the irony of being surrounded by iron bars after processing visas herself.
