Two disenchanted friends navigate Hollywood's ruthless landscape, facing failures and revelations that redefine their dreams and friendship.
Episodes
After their car is rear-ended by 1970s icon Sally Kellerman, Jackie and Tara are drawn into the world of The Platform, a so-called self-help group spearheaded by a charismatic ex-agent. Tara quickly embraces the "step up" way of life, leaving Jackie, convinced it's a cult, with no choice but to join herself if she's going to save her best friend.
For the first time in ages, Jackie meets someone with boyfriend potential, a graphic novelist named Mike. Jackie promises to attend his upcoming book reading but her plans change after she receives a much-sought-after invitation to the party of the latest auteur-de-jour.
Jackie discovers that her would-be boyfriend Mike has stolen her script about a 1930s roller derby queen and sold it to the production company Tara works for. To add insult to injury, Jackie's hired as his assistant.
With Mike's help, Jackie gets elevated to co-writer status on her own screenplay; little does she know, however, that he got studio heads Ken and Carol to sympathize with Jackie by telling them she has cancer.
Unable to sleep because of a neighbor's incessant car alarm, Jackie calls the cops and gets it towed. The next morning, she's unexpectedly befriended by its owner, a hotshot, New Age-y agent who quickly decides that she wants to be in the Jackie Woodman business.
It follows the misadventures of two disillusioned friends who try to chart a course through the shark-infested waters of Los Angeles. Jackie and Tara are still waiting for Hollywood to allow them to put their skills into practice.
