On June 6, 1980, around 8am, after a raging storm system came through the area, police in Libertyville, Illinois receive a disturbing call from a teenager named Billy Rouse. He says his parents, millionaire couple Darlene and Bruce Rouse, are dead in their bedroom. When police arrive, all three Rouse kids, 20-year-old Kurt, 17-year-old Robin, and 15-year-old Billy, are waiting on the grand lawn, in a state of shock. Inside, police discover a horrific bloody scene in the master bedroom. Part of Darlene's head is missing and police determine that a shotgun was used right up against her head. Bruce was shot in the face and his jaw had been blown off.
