Casimir and Bolko take talks with Henry the Iron, Duke of Sagan. Niemierza agrees with Bishop Grot on further steps regarding the Teutonic Order. Casimir travels to Hungary to attend the funeral of Charles Robert, his sister's husband.
Queen Adelaide leaves Swidnica. Duchess Agnes Habsburg, Bolko's wife, tenderly cares for his niece Anna, whose mother died years ago. Nekanda's alleged cousin wants to deprive the widow Bozena, Bishop Grot's cousin, of her inheritance.
Queen Adelaide meets Jolenta and her friendliness toward her heightens the anger of the king's older daughter Elizabeth. The princess is unkind to her young stepmother. Ligeza believes that Hincza is an imposter.
