As Tattie's impending nuptials to Tommy Austin grow closer, Grace grows desperate to scare him off. The Rayburns are enamored with their new color television set.
Grace is worried when she loses one of Tattie's presumably expensive earrings. Evelyn is upset when she learns Ida is dating their butcher.
When Tattie hires the Rayburns to reupholster a chair, Evelyn ends up designing a whole living room set for her. Meanwhile, Hannah is terrified after she sees The Birds against her mother's wishes.
