Michael Cates, a government agent who infiltrated a criminal's organization and upon witnessing the man kill someone testifies against him. Later someone plants a bomb at Cates' house killing his wife and daughter. Cates goes on a bender. His boss suggests he go into hiding as a trucker. But first he goes after the criminal's enforcer, thinking he was the one who killed his family.
In Arizona, Chance becomes entangled in small town police corruption. From prison, Calder puts out a high dollar contract on Chance's life.
While waiting for his truck to be repaired near Birmingham Alabama, Chance helps a former stock car driver protect his family from an extortion attempt.
Going against orders, Chance forces a showdown with Calder's hit-man Lozano. Chance and Cie make emergency repairs to the Kenworth.
In Idaho, Chance tries to help a fellow trucker but ends up having the Kenworth stolen and becoming entangled with multiple con artists.
After testifying against a crime boss, an undercover agent's family is killed. Adopting a new identity as a trucker named Chance, he roams America helping people while evading hitmen and pursuing the crime boss.
