While arranging a surprise 40th birthday party for his beloved wife Bex, Murray hears that she is leaving him. He desperately tries to find her and to cancel the party - but it is too late.
Murray tries to persuade Bex that a holiday is just what they need to repair their relationship, but she leaves him heartbroken at the airport. The couple try to hide the truth from their families with unexpected results.
Murray is forced to attend a meeting that Bex is also attending as she seeks help with her charity fundraiser. She is not impressed when Murray can't help her, forcing him to come up with a show-stopping idea.
Bex agrees to go for dinner with Murray at Lorenzo's, the Italian restaurant where he first proposed to her, but his plan to ask her to marry him again soon runs into problems.
When Murray tells Bex that he has decided to quit his job, he is disappointed when he does not quite receive the positive reaction from her that he was expecting.
Murray is a nice guy. Everyone says so. So no-one is more surprised than Murray when, on her 40th birthday, his wife walks out on him. So begins Murray's quest to discover what went wrong and how to win her back.
