1939, Zonguldak. Working as a miner in one of the city's coal mines with his father and siblings, Davut leads a modest life with his mother and 6-year-old younger sibling. One morning when they took over the day shift, 9 people lost their lives in a dent in the mine where they worked. Among them is Davut's father. Malik Bey, who is the owner of the mine, is responsible for the deaths. Because despite all the warnings from Davut, he did not take any precautions. As Malik Bey, who lives a rich life with his daughters Gülfem, Behice and Fikriye, gets rid of the accusations easily, Davut decides to bring justice himself and takes action.
The protagonist, Davut, lives a modest life in this town with his parents and siblings. After an accident on the mine, Davut ends up shooting Malik. After this situation, Davut goes to Malik's mansion and receives an unexpected offer.
In order to save him from Çolak's hand, Gülfem calls her father, who did not inform the gendarmerie, to account. Malik Bey, on the other hand, is relieved by Çolak's death because Çolak knows a dirty secret that will radically change Malik Bey's life. Learning that her father will marry Gülfem to Ali Gelik, Yavuz makes a plan through Asude to discourage Ali Gelik. Gülfem, who does not want to marry Ali, confronts him and says this openly to his face. However, Ali, who has never been rejected by any woman, will make the situation a matter of pride. Davut, who was made a foreman by Malik Bey, wants to improve the rights of the workers and this he faced once again by Malik Bey. Moreover, the man wants to evict the families of the deceased workers from their homes and replace them with new workers. Gülfem decides to act with Davut to help him, but the difficulties she will face will show her the true face of life that she has never known.
Davut is taken to the gallows to be executed by hanging because he works for Kasapoglu, who stole the state's weapons, but someone he least expects will come to his aid at the last moment and take him by the rope. Wives of deceased miners agree to work in the mine. Now Gülfem has to keep her promise to her father and marry Ali Gelik. While Davut is thinking about how to prevent this marriage on the night of the engagement, he learns that Kasapoglu ambushed Ali and will kill him by scanning his car with guns on the way back from the engagement ceremony. What Kasapoglu does not know; is that Gulfem is in the car too.
Malik Bey, who saw Davut with his daughter Gülfem, fired him from his job at the mine. Davut, who also had a fight with Kasapoglu, has reached a dead end. He will no longer be able to sell Malik Bey's coal and distribute his money to the workers. Celal accuses his brother of acting irresponsibly and not keeping his promise to them. He wants to go to Kasapoglu and continue his coal business, but Kasapoglu does not give him a clear answer. As a last resort, Celal knocks on Ali's door. Meanwhile, Kasapoglu kidnaps Gülfem and brings her to his farm, and tells Davut the lie that he kidnapped the girl for him. There is no question about the happiness of Davut and Gülfem, who got married at a religious wedding, but Ali Gelik will not leave it to their side.
