Fast forward to 1998, Scott is in his early 30's and newly married to a fun loving but clean girl named Michelle. Scott shares his pills with Michelle and within months she becomes desperate addict 'jonesing' for her next fix. To support their expensive habit, Scott robs a bank getting $3,000 that is quickly used to by drugs. Scott tells their drug dealer about the bank robbery. Within a week, the feds are knocking on his door and arresting him. In jail, Scott vows to turn his life around. After release he gets a steady job driving heavy machinery, but everything hits the fan when his mother moves in with him in 2005. Scott catches a whiff of a strange aroma coming from her room and finds her on the bed with a crack pipe. She offers Scott a hit, and he in turn gets Michelle hooked on crack. Soon all three are seriously addicted and tension begins to build over money and drugs. One night, after a week of sleepless drug fueled nights, Scott's mother starts a fight with her son over the television remote. As the argument heats up, it unlocks a dark corner of Scott's drug twisted brain, where for years he's been harboring resentment against her for introducing him to drugs. She pushes him and in retaliation, he slams her against the wall and ....
