When an attorney is found murdered with a note on his body, Peter Wendel hires Jorma and Caijsa, two cops who hate each other, to help form a team to investigate the case.
Peter Wendel panics as a knife exactly like the one stolen from his kitchen was used to murder the convicted serial killer's lawyer. However contrary to his fears, it shows none of his fingerprints. Meanwhile his unbelieving family turns against him.
Once the truth about the murder weapon gets out, Peter becomes a suspect. Jorma and Caijsa make a horrible discovery in the paedophile's house which has major consequences.
Peter tries to speak to the Minister of Justice about his involvement in the case and Barbro turns up a mysterious witness whose testimony takes the investigation in an unexpected direction
The team have to release their suspect. Meanwhile, Ann-Marie's enemies at the Justice department have Peter in their sights and he is kicked off the investigation.
Detective Peter Wendel returns after a long sick leave to form a team to reopen cold cases; the team find clues that an innocent man has been convicted of murder.
