Holly's father is moving to Japan, so the teen moves in with her sister, but worries that she will not be wanted there.
Holly promised Val a girls day out at the spa, forgetting she had promised her friend to go see J.C. Chasez from NSYNC on the same day, so tries to sneak out of the spa to quickly meet J.C. and get back to the spa without Val's knowledge.
Valerie feels that Holly is not making adjustments like she does, living in the house. She introduces a set of house rules, which Holly breaks on the first day.
Holly and Valerie both claim to be the righteous owner of a teddy bear found in the closet. Because they can't settle it out, they decide to give the bear to Josie, a young next door girl, but soon regret it.
Val worries that she is too strict for Holly, and attempts to be the 'cool, older sister'. Her plan backfires when Holly decides to go out all night, with Val being left home worried sick.
When Holly's father is transferred to Japan, she is sent to live with her big sister Valerie in New York City, turning Valerie's life upside down.
