Widow Jean Raines realizes that she has lost touch with her son and daughter. She decides to move closer to them and get right into their faces and their personal lives which the kids are uncomfortable with.
Jean, eager to start her new California life, is surprised to find her kids have less time to spend with her than she hoped. On top of that, she learns Danny's ex-wife is less "ex" than he implied. With no other options, Jean is forced to venture out and start building a life of her own in Los Angeles.
