This documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Friedrichspalast, whose history goes back to the Weimar Republic. During the time of the DDR, the Palace featured many stars and was known as "the Las Vegas of the East".
When Marlene attends a show at the Palace during a visit to East Berlin in 1988, she is astonished to see someone who looks just like her among the dancers.
Marlene confronts her parents. Chris gets the solo dance role, despite having sprained her ankle.

When Marlene is unable to fill her role as Chris's stand-in, the guest choreographer, Steven Williams, gives Chris's rival, Bettina, her solo role. Meanwhile, Chris, in Bamberg, has a fight with her father, Roland Winninger.
