Join Kirby Allison as he steps inside John Lobb and tours the bespoke workshop with family members Jonathan Lobb and Nicholas Lobb. They share their grand grandfather John Lobb's story of founding one of the world's most important bespoke shoemaking firms and went on to make shoes for Kings, Princes, and other Royals, earning countless Royal Warrants including the current Prince of Wales.
In 2016 Huntsman and Sons became the first Savile Row tailor to take up permanent residence in New York. Join Kirby Allison on this journey as he is led through the entire bespoke process by Ed Turco, managing director of Huntsman New York, and Ralph Fitzgerald, the London born head cutter.
Kirby Allison is guided on a tour of the Joh. Rendenbach Tannery by Hanns Redenbach. The factory has been creating oak bark tanned, leather for over a century. The traditional method of oak-bark tanning has prevailed through four generations of leather-making. Hanns was kind enough to show us the process that the leather goes through to actually be considered an official JR Leather Outsole.
