Frannie grapples with faith, freedom, and family secrets, as divine forces challenge her reality and reshape her destiny.
Episodes
Frannie, in a desperate attempt to regain control over her spiraling life, takes a semi-glutide shot (a weight-loss medication). She expects to feel empowered, in charge of her body, but instead, the shot has an extreme and violent effect. She spends most of the episode in a bathroom, violently vomiting, overwhelmed by her body's rejection of her desperate measure.
Frannie brings a man home from a bar, hoping to reassert control over her life in the most basic way: through sex. She's determined to feel empowered again, trying to overcome her anxiety and reclaim some semblance of confidence. She attempts to get on top, but nothing seems to fit right. The chemistry isn't there. Everything feels wrong. She's hyper-aware of her body, and it's uncomfortable. She's trying to push through, but the whole scene becomes painfully awkward.
Frannie, realizing that her plan for a quiet exit has been delayed, takes the last step toward trying to feel like she matters-she joins a book club. It's not because she's looking for intellectual stimulation, but because she needs something to do. She needs to make sure there will be witnesses to her demise. But when she attends the first meeting, she realizes how utterly out of place she is. The people are strange, detached, and super uptight. It's not the warm, supportive environment she'd imagined. Instead, it's just another disappointment. A chance meeting with a guy on the way to her car, goes horribly wrong.
Frannie reaches an emotional breaking point and begins planning her own demise. She goes through all the motions, writing letters, organizing her space, trying to make her exit as neat and deliberate as possible. But when she begins to realize that no one in her life will show up for her in her final moments, she is forced to confront the bitter truth that she's alienated everyone in her life. She can't even go through with the act because the realization sinks in: no one will care... and no one important will be at the wake.
Frannie's existential crisis is a Mess. Where it will lead is anyone's guess. Benji is over the Britney-Bitch of it all. Frannie is determined to escape her self indulgent, self imposed Mess... and Benji. But somehow they all keep showing up.
Frannie is questioning everything. God is not impressed.
