1993. Saverio Barone, a young magistrate serving in Termini Imerese near Palermo, decides in a mix of ambition and sense of duty to denounce his boss, Salvatore Donà, to the CSM, suspecting his collusion with the local mafia.
Saverio has been part of the Anti-Mafia Pool for a few months. His colleagues treat him with disregard and have not yet been able to show their value. Finally an opportunity arises.
After taking over his first investigation of a fugitive of the law, Mico Farinella, Saverio has not been able to produce any results in eight months. One day, however, the unthinkable happens.
Saverio, with the support of Captain Bonanno's Carabinieri, manages to get back on the trail of Mico Farinella. Finally, after months of waiting, the investigation has tightened the noose around the neck of the Madonie boss.
Bagarella has started a war. A trail of bodies lies between Corleone and Villabate, which forms a unit out of the investigating team Mazza/Barone, but it also leads to Saverio spending more and more time away from home trying to understand what is happening.
Italy and the mafia were at war in the early 1990s. Saverio Barone, a determined young prosecutor, steps in to fight for the innocents caught up in the carnage.
