Dan visits actor Brooke Bundy and asks about filming "Bonanza" in Big Bear in 1965 with Michael Landon, then Dan and Ryan do a mini-reenactment of that episode "The Debt" using teenagers from Big Bear High. Plus, a visit to our own ponderosa - the wild west of the San Berardino mountains - to a protected park called Pebble Plains with scientist Tim Krantz.
When Dan Steadman was 7 years old, he wrote an episode of "The Brady Bunch" on his dad's typewriter. Now over 40 years later, he gets to reenact this scene with the actor who played Peter Brady - Christopher Knight. And Ryan visits the legendary Captain's Anchorage restaurant to talk about the fire that nearly burned it down fifty years ago in Big Bear, CA. Finishing off the 1970s theme, Sally Crocker appears on the show to make a lime green gelatin salad, which gets quite a reaction from the audience.
Dan and Amelie go to Shore Acres Lodge to reenact a special scene from "The Wonder Years" that was filmed in this exact location in the 1991 episode called "The Lake." Ryan then interviews Brett Hand, who runs a unique center out of the old projection room of the drive-in theater. Meanwhile, Sally Crocker shows the audience an amazing cabbage recipe from Women's Day magazine in the 60s and Dan interviews two Karens who come to Big Bear and make a ruckus, as only Karen's can.
Dan and Ryan visit Oktoberfest in Big Bear, California, while Amelie and Ruby Rumors interview tourists in the village. Dan meets up with Marrrgaret Starr, a woman who might have run a cult in the San Berardino Mountains, as well as two of her followers.
Ryan and Dan reflect on the Clint Walker movie "Night of the Grizzly," filmed in Big Bear in 1966 and they head to the mountain with a bear costume to do their own reenactment. Dan talks to one of the most opinionated tourists to ever visit Bear Valley - the infamous stage performer Beverly Ginsberg (Jamie Denbo) backstage at UCB. Plus, info from zookeeper Irma MacLeod, bear wood carvers, and a bear spray expert (Brad Bishop).
