As school start the kids try to be cool. Carlos gets twists in his hair, George gets spikes in his hair and tries to impress some slackers, Lorena wears makeup without permission and Larry is upset that Lorena (and seemingly everybody else) is taller than him.
The boys mistakenly eat tasteless tamales prepared per dietary guidelines of Ray's boss; Carlos gets a job in a mail room so he can take a girl on a luxurious date; Lorena is distressed by her first facial blemish.
Larry wants to take karate lessons when an inattentive George doesn't provide the same protection from bullies that Carlos did. George, Lorena and Larry take a Spanish class expecting an easy A and Lorena wants in on George's homework selling scam. Carlos runs a yard sale for Ray and Sonia so he can buy an expensive pair of shoes to impress a girl.
