While Camille is on vacation on the Opal Coast, she meets Paul, whose wife has disappeared under strange circumstances. She shares her doubts with Niémans who immediately joins her on the spot. Niemans came to this village during his childhood, with his brother and his mother. While painful memories seem to come to the surface, Niemans and Camille witness a fatal accident that does not seem to be a coincidence.
Niémans and Delaunay continue their investigation and find a connection to astrology. Camille investigates the connection of Niémans's childhood love.
As Camille and Niemans go to the countryside to meet Arnaud Morillon, a former colleague of the BRI and friend of Niemans. They only find his corpse, infected with buboes, witnesses of the black plague, yet eradicated for centuries.
Niémans and Delaunay continue investigating the death of his former colleague from buboes.
In a small Belgian village, a church catches fire. As the firefighters battle the flames, the scene of a dark spectacle is revealed before their eyes: two bodies, a man and a woman, sewn back to back and with their throats cut. Camille and Niemans, arrived on the spot, discover on the victims bracelets from a neo-pagan festival with strange rituals, perched in the mountain. Niemans finds a former colleague and friend, Audrey, who works in the Belgian PJ. Very quickly, this investigation brings the trio into the strange world of neo-pagan rites and leather tanneries.
