While Judge Bertaud suffers a cardiac arrest at the Palais de Justice, Boris Delcourt, who has just arrived in Marseille, is forced to replace him immediately in the case of Adèle Lebas, a teenager accused of kidnapping the daughter of his father's ex-lover as revenge. Moved by this affair, Constance Meyer insists on reopening the Hervé Lebas case, who, found guilty of the murder of his wife, has been claiming his innocence for seven years. Meyer manages to convince the new examining magistrate to listen to the prisoner.
During the welcome party to the university campus where Constance's son studies, Fabien Sachez, a lower-class student, who encouraged pranks, appears tied up and dead. Julien Debailly, drug dealer at the university, is the first suspect. Delcourt and Meyer receive a wake-up call from the Prosecutor's Office: the Faculty does not want a scandal to break out during the course of the investigations and would prefer that they close the case as soon as possible.
Constance drives Barth to Marseille for a job interview, when Judge Delcourt informs her of the murder of Yann Bastier, 34, naval mechanic, crew member of "Le Vallant", stabbed to death in the port at 10 p.m. The stabbing suggests revenge, but the ship had not called at Marseilles for five years. First inquiries begin with the crew. Davout, one of the mechanics, is the first suspect. However, the victim's fingerprints link him to an unsolved case from four years ago: the rape and murder of Stéphanie Eckert. Quiring is still investigating Anne Delcourt.
Tv programme "La cuisine pour tous" with chef Adrien Chevillard is being played on a tablet while the corpse of the chef is on the floor of his restaurant, covered in blood, with a blow to the base of the skull. Investigation concludes that it was not a robbery, but probably a fight that went wrong. Inquiries begin with the restaurant staff. Chevillard was a "Mastercook" winner three years ago and had become a trademark whose finances were managed by his wife Béatrice.
