Divorcee Gemma battles temptation as her son’s charming friend ignites a fierce desire, complicating her chaotic new life.
Episodes
Gemma Jones is a divorcee struggling to bring up her two little daughters whilst ex-husband Jason has found a glamorous if vacuous younger partner Inca.Things improve for Gemma when the charming Tom,another single parent, asks her out for a date, which goes well, despite her nervousness. At the same time her womanizing son Alfie returns from a round the world trip with his sensible friend Billy, whom Jason mistakes for Gemma's toy boy. Though Gemma sees Billy wearing only a towel as he prepares to shower nothing happens between them.
The school is holding its parents' evening and Billy helps Gemma with her contribution to the cake stall, which pales beside Tom's magnificent offering. Nor is she pleased that Jason has let their girls dye their hair and takes lightly reports of daughter Charlotte's overly boisterous behaviour. When Charlotte's sister Jess gets stage fright over the school play Billy gives her the confidence to go on and Gemma gratefully kisses him. They are seen by an irate Alfie who starts a fight during the play which Tom breaks up before asking Gemma on a second date. She accepts but is equally attracted,if not more so,to Billy.
Gemma makes lazy Alfie work with his father on his grocery van whilst she accepts Tom's invitation to join his self defence classes. Inca is also keen to attend and when Jason interrupts she floors him and sits on his chest and only releases him after he has promised to marry him. Tom suggests Billy become his lodger and Billy takes up the offer but after one night away Gemma is already missing him.
It's Alfie's birthday and, despite Jason's disapproval, Gemma lets Tom escort her to the party at the bar where Billy is now working. Tom helps Gemma's friend Fran pick up an object of desire whilst Billy is roped in to help Alfie pull a pair of vacuous girls and Gemma encourages him. Inca cancels the wedding on learning that Jason is not fully divorced from Gemma and kicks him out. His unannounced arrival at Gemma's means that she is unable to spend the night with Tom - or Billy.
Fed up with Jason crashing on the sofa Gemma goes to see Inca, who is,however,in no mood for reconciliation and is off to meet a blind date in Billy's bar,Gemma asking Billy to tell her how it went. To prevent Jason from charging after her she brings him to her dinner date with Tom where the men get drunk and throw up. Inca decides she wants Jason after all and Billy rings Gemma to tell her - but Inca has inadvertently suggested Billy reveal his feelings for Gemma, which he does.
Divorcee Gemma finds herself attracted to the roguish charm of Billy, a friend of her son. With her ex hanging around and showing off his new lady, can she resist?
