A determined soccer star fights to unite her struggling team, discovering strength and friendship in unexpected places.

Devin Burke was the star player on her soccer team back home until her family moved to California. Now, Devin has to rise to the challenge after discovering that her new school team has been on a losing streak and is badly in need of a leader to turn things around. Based on the book series by Olympic Gold Medalist Alex Morgan and adapted by David Babcock (Brothers & Sisters, Gilmore Girls).
Devin tries out for a Club Soccer team and is excited by the positive feedback she gets from the coach. Her parents, though, won't let her play for both teams so she chooses to quit The Kicks in favor of the more skilled team. When she doesn't make the Club roster Devin has to get back in the good graces of The Kicks.
When The Kicks find out their coach has to leave for a family emergency, they go on the search for a new coach. If they don't find one in time, they won't be allowed to practice and will be forced to forfeit their first game. Upon discovering a suitable candidate, Kentville's head custodian, The Kicks have to convince him this new job is worth his time.
Coach Rivas has made it clear that Zoe is the weak link on the team so Devin takes it upon herself to improve Zoe's goalie skills. Mirabelle, in contrast, recruits a new goalie during her time in detention. Things come to a head at a slumber party when Devin is forced to be a true leader and make the best choice.
The bad condition of The Kicks' field makes Coach Rivas concerned for the safety of his players. After a failed fundraiser, The Kicks challenge the boys to a scrimmage and the winner will get to use the nice field that the boys get to use. After a tough game, the girls prevail but inevitably decide to share the good field with the boys.
Devin, a soccer prodigy, relocates to California where her new school's team struggles. Undeterred, she steps up to lead them out of their losing streak, rising to the challenge.
