The puppet heir Hojo meets a mysterious priest, Suwa, who predicts he will become a hero in two years. After the Kamakura shogunate falls in 24 days due to Ashikaga's betrayal, Suwa reappears, taking Hojo to Suwa for a legendary tag game.
Ashikaga, once considered the guardian of the Kamakura shogunate, stages a rebellion that led to its quick destruction. Tokiyuki's older brother, Kunitoki, successfully evades the eyes of the warriors loyal to Ashikaga.
Tokiyuki risks his life and wins a game of tag, defeating the enemy who betrayed his brother, their uncle, Muneshige. As soon as he arrives in Suwa, Yorishige urges him to begin his lessons and training to take back Kamakura.
Tokiyuki undergoes rigorous training to master sword techniques, aiming to reclaim Kamakura. Unexpectedly, his swordsmanship proves lackluster, revealing his true prowess lies with the bow.
Tokiyuki faces off against Sadamune in a dog-shooting competition, even though his opponent excels with the bow and possesses an almost prodigy-like eye for detail. With a large lead in points, Tokiyuki faces defeat as he gets hit.
After a massacre, Tokiyuki flees with loyal retainers including Suwa Yorishige, who predicts Tokiyuki will rule Japan. Their priority is escaping enemy territory.
