Lakis receives an urgent phone call. He must visit his ill father whom he hasn't seen for 24 years, because he had disowned him. His step-brother, Nick is reluctant about the visit but finally steps back because of his father's persistence. Their father wants to make peace with Lakis before he passes away. Will their father manage to change his will before Lakis's wife, Voula starts nagging on him about how poor they are and how useless she thinks he is? What's going to happen to Lakis?
Lakis decides to get a copy of his father's will so that he can see what his father thought of him. His step-brother is doing his best to avoid that in any way that he can. When Lakis is finally able to read the will, he learns that if he finishes high-school and gets into a university, half of his brother's clinic becomes his. At the same time, Voula is threatening Nick that if he doesn't do justice to Lakis, she will spit out their secret.
Lakis goes to school for the first time but the headmaster informs him his enrollment is not valid. Lakis is disappointed but won't give up so he tries to convince the school to accept him as a student. The headmaster, who was bribed by Nick, refuses. His family does not care about his struggle. Only his daughter Anna and Melina, his best friend's sister try to calm him down. Soon, Lakis learns that his mean brother is behind all this, which forces him to act in a different, more drastic way.
Lakis manages to get into school and is faced by his first enemies. The headmaster wants Lakis to pass a psychological test as to determine if he's capable to do well at school.At the same time, his relationship with Voula is going downhill and they start drifting apart. Soon, he falls in love with Melina, who seems to be the perfect match for him. His friend and Melina's brother, asks Lakis to accompany Melina to her physiotherapy sessions'in the natatorium. Lakis's only problem is that he doesn't know how to swim.
Lakis finds himself in an awkward position involving both his friend and Melina. He claims he only feels grateful towards Melina, which hurts her very much since she's in love with him. Lakis must choose between his obligations and his wishes. The same night, he organizes a small party to celebrate his son's graduation. At the part, Nick is going to announce his plans for Lakis, after being threatened by Voula.
Lakis is a hard-working and innocent married man, who hasn't finished high-school because he became a father at a very young age. His father dies and his will determines that, if Lakis is able to finish high school and get into a university, half of his fortune will belong to Lakis and the other half to his already rich brother.
