Natsume is depressed to hear unpleasant stories about his grandmother Reiko's past from a relative. In addition a girl spirit confuses Natsume with Reiko, and she brands him/her as a thief.
A girl spirit comes to see Natsume who got an old towel on his school road. She said the towel is hers, and she wants to give it back to its first owner.
Natsume received a letter from Matoba. However he lost it before he read because he was embroiled in an unknown exorcist's battle.
Matoba invites Natsume to the meeting of the exorcists. This meeting means that Matoba will find out someone who attacks the exorcists.
Natsume finds something that a spirit wrote on blackboard at high school.
When Natsume Takashi inherits a book that belonged to his late grandmother he realizes the book is filled with the names of spirits she defeated and bound to her will. He then decides to return their names so they can be free once again.
